Primary Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and manage commercial real estate investments; distressed commercial real estate/NPL experience, particularly in hospitality, a plus
  • Market research, comparative/industry analysis
  • Assist in identification and screening of investment targets
  • Lead deal due diligence efforts on prospective investments and manage outside service providers
  • Prepare presentation materials to investment committee, fund investors, lenders and portfolio company Boards of Directors
  • Creation and review of regular cash flows, budgets, business and operating plans for fund investments
  • Work with operating partners / management teams to develop and execute major strategic or financial initiatives
  • Monitor and report on the fund’s investments
  • Maintain relationships with brokers, operating partners, management teams, investors, investment bankers, lenders, consultants, etc.
  • Financial and valuation modeling

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience within commercial real estate asset management, private equity, investment banking or corporate finance.
  • Outstanding academic results and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics from a leading academic institution. CFA or CFA candidate would be an advantage.
  • Highly numerate with developed quantitative capabilities; demonstrable financial modeling and evaluation skills are critical. In particular, a good understanding of asset level underwriting and restructuring distressed investments is important
  • Extraordinary focus on details, accuracy, and quality
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working on several projects in conjunction with one another
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); exceptionally strong Excel and Argus skills are required
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, CoStar, REIS, and other financial information sources
